YOUR METABOLISM
ISN'T BROKEN

The full session with Coach Jesse Holloway, and what to actually do about it.

About an hour, including the Q & A.

“Metabolism isn't something your body has.
It's something your body does.”

The part that matters

What to actually do about it.

None of it is exotic. That is the point. Pick one.

MOVE MORE
OUTSIDE THE GYM

  • Your current steps, plus 10%. Not 10,000.
  • Hold two weeks. Add 10% again.
  • Pick a number you would hit on your worst day.
  • Stack it on a habit you already have.
  • Walk. Easiest thing there is to recover from.

EAT FOR
SATIETY

  • Build the plate around protein and volume.
  • Add 10% more protein than you eat now.
  • Eat slowly, no screen. Fullness arrives late.
  • Hand portions beat weighing food.
  • You do not have to track macros.

CHANGE THE
ENVIRONMENT

  • Food in the house gets eaten. Works both ways.
  • Protein and produce visible. The rest, absent.
  • Put the walk on the calendar.
  • Prep food before you are hungry.
  • Strength train. Muscle matters more each year.

“Most people don't have an information problem.
It tends to be an implementation problem.”

Asked on the night

Questions from the room.

Real questions, asked on the night.

Every time I try macro counting it overwhelms me. Do I have to track?

No. Tracking is not required for fat loss, and for a lot of people the tracking is the first thing to break.

Start with hand portions or the plate method. Structure without a spreadsheet, and it survives a restaurant.

If I did want something tangible to aim at, where would I start?

Protein, vegetables, and how you eat rather than how much. Build the plate around protein and volume, then slow down and put the screen away. Fullness lags behind your fork.

Is there a daily step goal I should be hitting?

Ten thousand is a three month target, not a Monday one. Take what you do now, add 10%, hold two weeks, raise it again.

The test is confidence. If you are not certain you would hit it on your worst day, it is too high. Missing one day makes missing the next one easier.

Is one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight really the goal? That sounds like a lot.

A fine long-term target. A terrible starting point.

Same move as the steps: add about 10% more protein than you eat now. Half a serving more at dinner. Move toward it rather than demanding it on day one.

What is actually included in the coaching, and how often do we meet?

A 75 minute initial consult, then a 30 minute check-in every two weeks on Zoom.

Between calls you track habits in the app and can message your coach any time. The plan gets adjusted as life changes, not handed over once.
